How the US Freedom Rides inspired the Australian Freedom RideThe freedom riders are a great example of how the US Civil Rights Movement inspired Australian Civil Rights Campaigners. After the Freedom Rides in the U.S in 1961, A group of university students in Australia were inspired to ride a bus from Sydney to Perth to raise awareness for the living standards, health and education of aboriginal people in 1965. Furthermore, one of the leaders of the Australian Freedom rides, Charles Perkins, was inspired by the success of the U.S freedom rides.
