Anthony Martin Fernando
There were also a lot of other Australian civil rights campaigners who were inspired by the US Civil Rights Movement. For example Anthony Martin Fernando, Anthony Fernando was an Aboriginal Australian civil rights campaigner who left Australia to Europe to write and talk about the status of Aboriginal people in Australia. In 1920 he wore a coat covered in toy skeletons outside Australia House in London in hope of letting people know what the Australian government had done to his people. Fernando was also one of the Australian civil rights campaigners who was influenced by the US civil rights campaigners but it is unknown who or what event specifically he was influenced by.

Mary Bennett
Another person who was inspired by the US civil rights movement was Australian Aboriginal rights advocate Mary Bennett, although she was not directly inspired by the civil rights movement, she was inspired by Anthony Fernando (who was inspired by the civil rights movement). Mary Bennett had once heard Anthony Fernando talk and decided that she also had to do something. She travelled from England where she lived back to Kalgoorlie in Western Australia and began to campaign for Australian Aboriginal rights.
